Ugh! Why is it so hard?
God gives the strength to persevere when it's hard to continue growing intentionally.

Ugh! Why Is It So Hard?
Lord, why do I have to grow? Why do I always have to do the hard things? Why can’t I just sit back and take the easy way for once?
This has been my prayer (or complaint) so many times throughout my life!
If you want a good marriage, you have to work at it and become selfless.
If you want to be a good parent, it takes patience, consistency, and follow-through.
If you want to be successful in your job, it requires submission, loyalty, and persistence.
If you want to be healthy, physically fit, and in a close relationship with the Lord, it takes commitment and dedication.
Everything worthwhile requires discipline—and some days, it can feel overwhelming and just plain hard.
But the Lord reminds us, “Nothing is too hard for Me.”
Jeremiah 32:17 – “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by Your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for You!”
God always answers us with His Word, and His Word never fails (Luke 1:37). That’s why we must have it written on the tablets of our hearts and study it daily—it’s our anchor when things feel heavy and impossible.
I’m reminded of Romans 5:3–4: “Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
When we keep showing up and doing the hard things—even when it feels like suffering—it builds perseverance within us. Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in success. It’s the inner drive that keeps us going, and that drive is placed within us by God Himself.
The more we persevere, the more godly character begins to take root within us. That godly character becomes the foundation for our Rule of Life—and out of it blooms hope.
Hope that we will see the dreams and visions the Holy Spirit has planted in us, come to life.
Hope that we will fulfill His purpose.
Hope that our children will grow up to love and serve the Lord.
Hope for peace, love, health, and prosperity.
Hebrews 12:11 tells us, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness for those who have been trained by it.”
Even Paul understood that doing what’s right—doing the hard things—can be painful. But take heart, dear sister in Christ: it’s producing something within you that money can’t buy. It’s setting you apart.
“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
He will give you the strength to do what you must do.
Keep your eyes on Him. He is with you.
And friend—keep on keeping on!
